I have nothing to do so I have idea.
We can keep Dimensional Crisis in life.
Because this is more possible.
So does there are some who wish to join?
How about new Ideas?

I had an idea to keep Dim. Crisis alive once, as well... but I think I failed.  Better, the Community failed. (Although, it's not really failure until it's made impossible, I guess.)

I'm in.  What kind of activities do you think would be useful?  Is there consensus on the overall parameters of the project?

I.e.

> Will it just be a story and setting for now, and the means to implement it will be revealed over time?

> Will it be a GBA hack, and therefore the story will be constrained by the tech and resources we have available?

Activities: I dunno?
Project's overalls: I'm not sure what's going on with it.
If I remember correctly, in the beginning, the project wasn't even labeled Dimensional Crisis. I think Role/Rolina was the first leader? At one point, it was once a closed project where you had to apply as an Artist, Coder, or (I forget). Etc. I think that a closed project led to no activity/not working... so it was later opened, somehow...
Later, when Salanewt came up with the Dimensional Crisis idea, that led him to becoming Project Leader.  Then we have all this lore stuff going on, Charon leaves... Probably more lore... And there might have also been discussion that the project should be a sequel instead, or something. Later on, Salanewt leaves while leaving Hoopa and Misery as Project Managers, if I recall correctly.  And then after nothing has happened for awhile, eventually Rolina leaves. (Probably for off-site matters.)
I was never deeply involved in the project, unfortunately.

> That might be a good way to go.

> No idea, but if it was made from scratch for the PC, we wouldn't have to worry about the stricter limitations on hardware, nor patching.

Let's just start something new with the people who are still here (or who are currently active).  Simply put, I don't think 'Dimensional Crisis' belongs to us.  And what if the old guys come back and want to continue *their* work?  I don't want to be rude to them.

And I don't want to be limited by their decisions either.

----

And looking at it, what's the *motive* behind the desire to revive Dimensional Crisis?  We just want something to do together, right?  So let's just do something.

I'll keep this short: For all three of them, it was strongly implied that they weren't going to work on the project anymore. And it wouldn't be rude to continue with Dimension Crisis. It does "belong" to us because it's the COMMUNITY project. The lack of people working on it led to its downfall. If it was just their work, and they didn't want us working on it, I'm sure it would have been brought up by now.

I believe it's obvious that the status of DC would be Canceled rather than Delayed if we started a new project... by the evidence of conversation that went on.

Yes, that's the motive I guess.. But what story do we have? Making up lore that relates to the events of GSHC makes it well.... easy to come up with something? (Maybe?)

So... there's many paths we may have...

1.) Continue Dimensional Crisis

2.) Sequel of TLA

3.) Atrius's Forgotten Dreams project (After getting permission, ofcourse.) Problem is, he hasn't revealed much about that project... and it's apparently *His* work, and not the *Community's*... as far as things are at the moment.... since I believe he was planning on having a separate site for it. (But that doesn't mean that we can't remove GSHC's Community Project in favor of another Community Project.)

4.) Other project ideas people have had. (As long as we have their permission.)

5.) Something else...

Well first of all we must do everything step by step.
first step:
How much have done those members before us?

How much have the past members done before us? Plenty, but it's all probably a waste. If you are referring to the actual patch, probably very little... (Compared to what a finished project would look like.)

Then we must do all from Zero.
First thing of all is what?
What we shall do first of all?

First thing is to put up some polls?

Also, reduce dialogue as much as possible, and tell your story as visually as possible? (While still maintaining Character Development.) I dunno... The point is to reduce language barriers.

Comment:
From a technical standpoint, we're each engaging in 3 different ways of making things, and I don't think we're going to unify any time too soon.

1) Saturos seems to be most interesting in hacking roms.
2) Teawater recently set about to create his own custom editor and game engine in... Java? I forget.
3) I'm working in Lua, using Love2d.

The only common thing we can work on in the short term is a "design document."  So I say that's where we start.

Question about story:

Do you guys want
1) To do an alternate "what if" remake of The Lost Age?
2) Do a sequel to The Lost Age?
3) Do a remake of Dark Dawn?
4) Do a sequel to Dark Dawn?

5) Something else?*

Here would be the direction I'd go in:

Create a single new side quest for an existing Golden Sun game (you guys pick).  This could include a new town, a new dungeon, new enemies, new psionics, etc.  With this option, I think we get the best of all worlds:

1) Limited scope, since we don't have to make a whole new game
2) We get to make up any brand new stuff we want, be them characters or weapons or ways for traveling around Weyard
3) We get to keep a lot of the old stuff we know and love.

*If we create something apart from the Golden Sun games, but still in the Golden Sun universe
Weyard is one flat world.  But what if there are others?  Instead of doing something Weyard, we could do something on an alternate flat world.  And personally, I like the idea of another floating island crashing into Weyard, introducing new creatures, civilizations, and maybe even types of djinn.  So we definitely have options if we want to break further away from the existing games, although this would mean more work for us.

How much have the past members done before us? Plenty, but it's all probably a waste.

Are there any things you think we should salvage?  If so, what?

Story: #1 sounds good, I'm guessing... It depends, though. ; (This is me ignoring Dark Dawn (#3/#4) because I don't know much about it.... as well as #2 because I'm afraid of contradictions.)

@salvage: No idea yet...

Are there any unknown or undiscovered locations on Weyard? If so, then maybe we could create a village/community and sidequest that could fit into any of the three Golden Sun games?  The exact story context might change, but the dungeon layout, and other details of the town might stay constant.

Basically, I say we do something that could easily be "dragged and dropped" into any future fan project, whether they want it to be in TLA, or DD.

---

But basically now we're waiting for Saturos's vote.  If there's a conflict, then I'll speak up.  But if there's agreement, then we'll move forward.

---

@ Tea:  What are you most interested in making/changing/doing if we go with story option 1?

Luna_blade: @Saturos: Your english exams?
Teawater: Can't remember exactly what shae of yellow it was, so not sure it would be too close or not.
Teawater: @KoP: Wouldn't Shiny Gold be for the Sol Clan?
Salanewt: Oh wait, tag doesn't work down here. But yeah, how is your hack going Jamie?
Salanewt: [me] considers giving him the Sol Blade...
Salanewt: Oh my. To be honest though, I'd be more likely to give Briggs stuff from later regions; him being a pirate from another continent and all.
JamietheFlameUser: How not to design boss fights: give human-type bosses stats and equipment on par for what the Editor says their level is and what equipment is available where they're from. You get stuff like an actually scaled to level 21 Briggs with a Great Sword, Silver Plate, Silver Helm, Vambrace, and Leather Boots. God, that was BS.
Saturos: Wow first part of exam is ower (in english) tomorow speaking part.
JamietheFlameUser: Eh, I didn't know the exact chance of Curse screwing you over. Still, that 6% chance to fail to act at all could screw you over when it matters most. The obvious solution, of course, is to stick that armour on a character who doesn't do anything but spam attack moves anyway.
leaf: ...assuming I'm remembering the chance of curse taking effect correctly as 25%
Today at 07:09:50
leaf: in fact, you get two turns the majority of the time (~56%), and only completely fail to act ~6%, the remainder of the time getting one action
Today at 07:07:49
leaf: I like that stealth armor buff. it wouldn't make sense to do that with the clerics ring available, but if you remove that, it's actually an interesting item. On average, you get ~1.5 turns per round. it's potentially very strong, but carries risks
Today at 07:04:59
leaf: lol
JamietheFlameUser: Reading the Venus Psynergy topic and 'lol'ing at Role's reaction to a very simple spell idea I'd had (and still think is awesome), where rock explodes out of the ground from a single point in a focused, cone-shaped burst. Role read me the riot act about not combining elements again. lol.
JamietheFlameUser: Well, one thing I came up with that was actually potentially cool is a modification to the Stealth Armour. I gave it +1 turns, under the assumption that the Cleric's Ring would be removed. You might get 2 actions that round, or 1 action, or maybe no actions at all! RNG at its finest.
Knight of Purgatory: Nice orange text kain. Maybe it should be a shiny gold
